Local Volunteer Firefighters Dear Valued Supporter First, I would like to say Thank You on behalf of the Volunteer Firefighters that are participating in the 2nd Annual “Hope for Charleston” Spaghetti Feed 2011 for your time and consideration of this request. Collective groups of local Volunteer Firefighters have come together for a second year to present a Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser to help a fellow volunteer firefighter’s family. With the overwhelming success of last year’s event we were able to donate just short of $15,000.00 to the Goeppert family. This family’s first-born child was diagnosed with Type 1 SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) as a newborn. In most cases this is a fatal disease that requires 24 hour a day care. The medical expenses for Charleston can run in upwards to a $1,000,000.00 a year. Charleston has spent the last year and half of his life fighting an unbelievable fight to stay alive and defying the odds given by his doctors. He is one of the only known children in our area to be diagnosed with SMA. Our volunteer fire department families, from North of Red Rock to the south end of Washoe Valley, and Verdi to Gerlach have come together to put on an All-Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser in Reno. On Saturday August 20, 2011 the “Hope for Charleston” Spaghetti Feed 2011 will consist of a Spaghetti dinner, static displays of many different fire agencies, silent auction/raffle, music, games and great community fun. With the overwhelming support of local businesses such as you, we can help make a difference in this family’s life. Our goal is to donate 100% of all the proceeds to the Goeppert family to assist again in medical and household expenses that continue to accumulate. The reason we are contacting you, is in the hope that you and your company can help us make The Local Volunteer Firefighters “Hope for Charleston” 2nd Annual Spaghetti Feed a huge success. We are looking for items for the silent auction and raffle drawing, product for the event or any monetary support. We are at this time estimating 1000 people to attend. Any help that you would be able to give to us would be greatly appreciated. By limiting the overall expense of this event, the proceeds that we can donate to the Goeppert Family greatly increase. All of our sponsors will be listed on several sponsor boards that will be located around the event. We would proudly post banners supplied by the business to promote your sponsorship. We have included our federal tax ID# 88-6014638 for tax deduction purposes. If your donation is a monetary donation, please make checks payable to Hope for Charleston. With this fundraiser fast approaching, we are hoping to hear from you as soon as possible. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, Katie Patterson (Event Coordinator) at (775) 240-6977 or e-mail flopspot@aol.com (in subject line please post Hope for Charleston). Donations can be mailed to: “Hope for Charleston” Thank you again for your time and consideration of this request. On behalf of the Local Volunteer Firefighters and myself, we would like to extend a personal invitation to you, your family and staff to come and join us on August 20, 2011 for a day of community support and family fun. If you would like any information or would like to post a letter about this event please feel free to e-mail me and I would be happy to provide you the information. Thank you again for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
