Reno City Council Member Jessica Sferrazza opposes Washoe County Manager’s effort to be designated an “Urban County” as it will negatively impact the City of Reno.
Washoe County Manager, Katy Simon states—“absolutely not true. We had proposed to jointly seek technical assistance with the City of Reno and the City of Sparks in order to bring somewhere between $500,000 and $1.5 million more per year in CDBG funding into the region, with the caveat that there would be no decrease in funding for Reno or Sparks. Reno and Sparks declined that invitation, and we did not pursue it any further.”
