“The $40,000,000 Tax Debacle”

The Board of Trustees discussed a request from Washoe County to the District (IVGID) to refund to Washoe County an estimated one million dollars of tax revenue and interest.  This being IVGID’s share of what the County must refund to owners of approximately 8,700 properties due to overcharging them on their property taxes.

Motion made by Bea Epstein:
As a Board, we understand Washoe County’s problem but we should not be held responsible for the accrued interest, due to the Counties mishandling of the situation.
Passed 5 – 0

The Board concluded that before taking a final action, they wished to consult with all the other entities involved.

Please excuse the shakes and artifacts in the video, as this was shot without a tripod. There was some debate whether this video should be shown or not, it was concluded that for those people interested in this subject, this video would be better than nothing
