Few individuals' political opinions are better known than Ira Hansen's. Ira has been a newspaper columnist for seventeen years for the Sparks Tribune and a talk show host for KOH and for KKFT radio stations here in Northern Nevada.

Born in Reno in 1960, Ira has grown up here and attended local Washoe County schools. He met his future wife, Alexis (Lloyd), at Sparks High School. Ira and Alexis have now been married for 30 years and currently have eight children and three grandchildren.

Ira is a licensed Master Plumber and has been a Nevada State Contractor since 1986. Starting their business from scratch, Ira Hansen and Son's Plumbing and Heating Inc. (lic. # 23569A), is now one of Northern Nevada's premier plumbing companies. Ira also owns and operates Ira Hansen and Son's Disaster Cleanup LLC-a fire and water restoration company.

In addition to being a press watch dog, Ira has been heavily involved in civic, religious, and business affairs within our community. Ira has served the youth of our community as a Sparks Little League coach, a Sparks Pop Warner coach, and as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. Ira is a third generation Eagle Scout and three of his four sons are Eagle Scouts.

As a member of the press and as a non-paid public advocate, Ira has since 1987 attended and testified at the Nevada legislature and has not missed a session in 22 years.

As a native son of Nevada, Ira loves the outdoors and has spent countless hours as a sportsman exploring its immense deserts and mountains. Ira is a Lifetime member of Nevada Bighorns Unlimited.

Ira now seeks to serve his community and state as a legislator. Ira's integrity and public record ensures Ira will remain a powerful advocate for constitutionally limited government, lower taxes, and for individual responsibility.
