Draft Nuisance Ordinance
Commission Chairman David Humkey guided the three hour workshop with adeptness, blended with occasional humor.
For purposes of discussion, the Draft Nuisance Ordinance was divided onto four areas of interest. Junk Cars, Blight, Noise (off road vehicles) and Area Modifiers.
Assistant D.A. Blaine Cartlidge (affectionately known as “Blank Cartridge”) was asked by Sharalyn Barney to explain his position as to why the nuisance ordinance could not be modified by area. Mr. Cartilage’s argument rested on equity of enforcement, without regards to such things as zoning. Congested areas and zoning are all about creating differences, said Gary Schmidt.
At the conclusion of the Workshop, chairman Humkey and the commission as a whole received a round of applause from the public.
